PROMPT: What does imaginative or fictive work do versus nonfiction? Poems versus data?

WRITE AND POST: a draft of Blog post # 2 (at least 300 of 500 words) to Blogs@baruch. The questions for the prompt will be discussed in class. Post must include material on Survey Graphic selections. Image or form of media. Focus on skills of close reading visual and/or textual.

Remember your Goals

• Poses and answers a question or offer an interpretive or analytical claim about visuals (photography vs image) or what poetry does versus a report OR a post of your own design
  • avoid the obvious (in other words, it won’t argue a conclusion that most readers could reach on their own from a general knowledge )
  • support its main points with strong evidence from the story
  • use careful reasoning to explain how that evidence relates to the main points of the interpretative claim.
• Must include at least 1 image or quotation that is being close read
• Contextualize textual material or archival material
• Categories (e.g. Blog # 3, and other related categories)
• Citations and links; works cited at bottom
• Few Grammatical Errors
• The equivalent of a critical response essay

Animoto or Youtube (requires gmail account) used to create 1-2 min trailer or preview for blog ( this part of the blog post effort based. You get credit for creating the trailer).

To receive credit for this draft you need Word count (300 words); Content (at least one quotation that you consider the detail of its meaning conceptually or in terms of its literary value) and it must be submitted on time. See the rubric in this assignment folder for details.
