  1. I did not see the symbolism in the novel until you brought it up. This is definitely an intriguing perspective on the first part of the novel! I will be on the lookout for any more symbolism in the rest of the novel.

  3. I agree, I think that the letters themselves are indeed indicative of something else that we’re being warmed up to. Identifying what kind of parchment was used in the letters Clare sent is important in terms of what kind of people could afford what. When something as simple as the paper is high quality, one may be led to believe that many other aspects of their lives are as elegant.
