In Hungary, a New Opera Joins the Chorus Against Anti-Semitism
This article touches upon the growing support of anti-Semitism in Hungary and ways prominent people in the community are trying to combat that. For example, Ivan Fischer, a first-class conductor wrote the opera called “The Red Heifer” which challenges the government, their corruption, and their control under Prime Minister Viktor Orban. Ever since Orban came to power, Hungary has been limiting freedom of press and civil liberties of its people. People in Hungary are beginning to deem it acceptable to blame the country’s economic problems on Jews. Fischer is changing that by impacting the cultural aspect of Hungary and gaining followers. However, the majority still believe in those anti-Semitic views.
