It was my senior year of High School and I was applying to many colleges and trying to figure out what I wanted to do with my life in the future. I was so stressed out and had no idea what I wanted to major in. Business has always interested me, wether it be as simple as selling and advertising a certain product, or as complex as the stock market and numbers. I already had an idea of marketing for the longest before I started thinking thoroughly into it. In High School I used to sell chocolate to my classmates. I would bring it into the school in my backpack and I would tell people the day before that I would be selling. This was my way of marketing my product in order to allow me to make sales later on the next day. From this point forward, my mind had a different way of viewing things in life. I realized every business doesn’t excel primarily from the sales and the customers or even the location. In fact these factors I just named all sprout from one thing, which is how this said company or product was marketed to the public. Adding on to my thoughts, I spoke to my father about choosing my career path. My father had started his own company almost 20 years ago when he came to America, so he had plenty of experience and plenty of advice to give me. He explained to me the steps of starting a business and everything that goes into it. After this, I knew I wanted to pursue marketing and be the spark that allows a business to excel and start up. Now that I’m currently majoring in Marketing, I feel like I chose the right path and I will continue to learn the ins and outs of it all. I want to make my family and the people around me proud and I think this is the right path to do so.
