I enjoyed this video insight into Frankenstein because it gave a little bit of backstory behind Mary Shelly’s life and the events that lead up to the classic novel Frankenstein.
I like that in the beginning, he immediately confronts all stereotypes about the novel in a comedic manner, for those who only are barely familiar with the story.
Green then speaks about Shelly, the author, by telling the story of her husband, who had died at sea, and of the vacation where Shelly, a young girl at the time, wrote Frankenstein to help pass time in a friendly competition among other artistic individuals.
John Green continues to give an in depth elaboration about Mary Shelly’s novel, while uncovering underlying themes and helping the audience understand better the hidden tones and meaning within the story.
Overall, I think that this video does a good job of telling the story of Frankenstein; arguably as well as simply reading the novel.
