“He thought back on his family with deep emotion and love. His conviction that he would have to disappear was, if possible, even firmer than his sister’s. He remained in this state of empty and peaceful reflection until the tower clock struck three in the morning. He still saw that outside the window everything was beginning to grow light. Then, without his consent, his head sank down to the floor, and from his nostrils streamed his last weak breath”.
I found this story not so interesting. To me the moral of this story is really sad and upsetting like the quote you just read. Sometimes loneliness is worse than death because loneliness is when you have nothing. It is described to more “absolute”. It gives the idea that no matter hw much you do at the end you will be taken advantage of and that is what I believe the story is trying to portray. Gregor helping his family to achieve success and happiness all goes down the drain when he wakes up as in insect. At first, he was in denial but he slowly realized that whatever is happening to him is real. He began to receive rejection from family, friends, co-workers, and more. Eventually it turned into isolation and loneliness. To be honest, this is a sad reality where many people in the todays world go through. An individual can do so much for others, but when he or she ask for anything no one will lend them a hand or an a ear. That is the sad truth. Its really emotional because when Gregor dies nobody cared as if nothing happened. everybody moved on with their lives. I can’t process this because it is too sad for me to even think about it.
