12/1  Development

This week I focused on attempts with 3D printing designs and designers:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cl8OjvKwhbk < in this video, showing the ability to be flexible and strong is exactly how Accessories should be displayed. Many people have trouble with buying a phone case that can be both flexible and strong. The hard phone case is usually  plastic or metallic and the soft product is usually a gummy material that lose the formation after a few stretches.

These videos helped me get a better understanding when dealing with different shaped and forms of executing an idea as simple as a phone case.

11/25 Why should Companies be willing to invest.

So far Great designers are able to print unique designs for the runway but I was thinking about starting with 3D printed accessories for companies such as Forever21 and H&M. The reason I choose these young vibrant clothing lines is because targeting teens and young adults can give better feedback to the development and calibration of fashion and 3D printing. The audience of young adults  are also the highest spending consumers. This technique can also help companies get a better understanding with the flaws and benefits of 3d Printing.

11/18 Research Accessories in Retail that needs improvements. What are the Consumers Needs?

Since I’m focusing on accessories, I researched the life span of a Costume Jewelry sold at H&M. Usually costumers know that once they pay 5.95 for jewelry then they can at least get 5 wears of this jewelry before it starts to turn color. What if H&M can mass produce Costume Jewelry that can get more then 5 wears and it won’t turn. Gaining the confidence of a costumer when spending their money can help with sales.

1. Phrase- Plastic, 1.50, my word is Art.

2. Vase- gold, 1808.48, Polish Gold Steel.

3.  Cookie Cutter- Stainless Steel,  $37.61, A robust metal with a rough, pitted surface. This material is 3D printed 420 Stainless Steel infused with bronze with a final composition of approximately 70% steel and 30% bronze. 120 minutes.

4. Ring- Gold Plated, $93.68, Gold Plated Brass and Polished Brass both go through extensive hand polishing to give them a smooth, shiny finish. Polished Brass has a bright yellow coloring and, with 22k plating, Gold Plated models will resemble authentic gold objects

5. Knob- Black Acrylic, $101.42, The level of detail for these products is high, but individual layers are more visible than in Strong & Flexible plastics. I wanted to try something different with the knob.

Blocks & Model

1. My block was complicated to shape because I wasn’t sure if using a circle would be easier to create the arch in the square or another method. I also did not comprehend the measurements so at first the shape was done too large but once Prof Zoe showed me a way to input the measurements by inches I found this method easy.

2. Once I was able to understand the dimensions assembling this Supermarket was quite easy. I using numerous blocks and also changed the color so it can have a shadow effect on the building. My challenge in this image was creating space inside, as you can see it looks like a vacant building.

DeLiz: Future Vision

Future Vision

The area of interest relating to the growth of understanding 3d design involves Retail Service and Fashion. Before entering the Retail Service you wouldn’t realize how detail orientated the retail business can be. Retail top priority is consumers and being innovated. Products that are high in demand job is to fulfill every consumer want and need at the same time because they want to feel a sense of originality. Being creative in retail service is key and 3D printing can contribute to fashion creativity. Fashion s a form of expression but ultimately it’s a recreation of an old idea with a twist. 3D printing can bring another way of putting a twist on fashion by creating different dimension which will entertain consumers psychogagy. This movement would shake up competition which can push new ideas and creativity. The current situation with competition isn’t as competitive as it should be. Stores like Forever 21, H&M, and Charlette Rousse share similar designs which can be repetitive. Retail service and Fashion works with each other which both categories focus on consumers wants and needs. My future vision for 3D printing can expand to accessories, shoes, and garments. A student, Ciokajilo, created a shoe with 3D printing by coconut hairs and natural fibers. Having the advantage to use different material is also a bonus with Retail Service and Fashion because the limitations get smaller compared to applying 3D printing to a coffee cup. The materials that can get recognition is edible material, metal, and gold. Overall the future vision on fashion is very promising because it creates a new window of ideas that can help designers or entrepreneurs.

11/11 How to be creative with fashion?

In the fashion world being new and creative is very important. Businesses, retail,  need to find different ways to sell the same product which is affordable clothing’s. 3D printing brings a new twist on fashion because of the access of hard dimension such as a skeleton dress that holds the frame of the dress comfortable on a human body with out it being to heavy and wasting material. 3D printers are able to print creative designers that can be duplicated which will bring good competition between brands. Celebrities such as Lady Gaga is seen wearing a customized dress that matches her personality and persona. These new dresses are popping up in Fashion Shows as the new Fashion, so making it accessible and personal to the average teenager will turn the product from want to need which is good for brands, such as H&M, Forever21, and Charlette Rouse.

Personal Reflection

My unique experience in the knowledge of 3D design and painting allowed me to understand the importance of being creative and innovated. When I first head of 3D printing I thought about images on a piece of paper being able to print in a 3D format that’ll require 3D glasses or something of that nature. Watching skulls being created from a liquid substance and the idea of creating limbs for amputees. I am thrilled and hesitant of the idea of being so advance in technology because having the opportunity to print guns shows that limitation should be required. The take on 3D printing is simple, we are going to be able to print pens, if we want, or even bigger things in the comfort of our homes. The challenges I faced the most is the coffee idea because relating any ideas back to 3D printing would force you to think outside of the box. This made me think deep into everyday movements that I would normally ignore and figure out a way to find a solution to improve my everyday movement. The way you focus on details are very important because people want the same thing but different approach on the issue. I had the advantage to use social coffee because its was one of the needs. Connecting Needs to 3D printing is a challenge, but facing it and thinking out side the box always help. Working with SketchUp was different because I assumed that it was going to be easy but dimensions is difficult. I develop my skills in SketchUp by building a supermarket that was based on details. Overall dealing with different methods to create an object has brought plenty of opportunities that I never dealt with prior to this class.
