Bullying has been around for countless generations, and adults have brushed it aside thinking it was no big deal and was apart of every child’s experiences growing up. With technological advances, newer cell phones, computers, and social networking applications have sprung the era of cyber bullying. Cyber bullying has tortured countless people and officials have been endlessly attempting to find a fix but have nevertheless failed. This film takes place in the near future, where the social media software SocialMD has been increasingly growing in superiority and effectiveness. SocialMD was created to access user’s profiles and using an algorithm to match them with people they are most similar to in experiences, taste, fashion, ex). This created the opportunity for new connections, friendships and relationships. You can also communicate with current friends through the messaging platform. It also has a feature that allows people to come to an analysis of any medical issue, or concern users may have. The best doctors imputed information making SocialMD a remarkably excellent doctor. SocialMD became the leading social media platform nearly putting other platforms out of business. It acquired over a billion users in its first year of release in 2025 and continued to rise in users, money, and effectiveness till the modern day in 2029. The progression and succession of SocialMD has brought happiness to countless users, however there are still those who choose to inflict violence and terror on individuals. Using the very technology used to develop SocialMD and its defense software, people have been able to use the software against its users. If cyberbullying was bad before, it doesn’t even compare to it now.
Sabrina is a 22 year old college student studying business finance. She lives a pretty ordinary life, living in colorado with a roommate, Chelsea. She has a night shift as a waitress while also being a bright student with a 3.5 gpa. She has a couple friends that she sees every once in a while. She tries to remain having a social life despite being flooded with school and work at times. Sabrina soon faces the reality that she wants to be more connected with people who don’t happen to be classmates, teachers, or coworkers so she decides to make an account on SocialMD. After uploading her information including medical information for the program to better analyze future symptoms based on past medical records. She immediately starts exploring. She first added her current friends and after exchanging some messages begins finding connections. In the first hour she had already been sent job applications that actually interest her and suit her field of education. Real estate associate, positions at banks, internships all from legit and known companies. She applies for banking internship she thinks is best suited for her to gain experience and knowledge for her future career and days later gets a reply back saying she was accepted after careful analysis of candidates. SocialMD was working like a charm, effectively, fast, and responsive. She realized she could rely on SocialMD, if it was capable to securing her a good job. One night Sabrina and her roommate Chelsea get into an argument, and have a falling out. Sabrina storms out of their apartment and goes on her SocialMD account looking for plans for the night. Using the app she was placed into a chat with a man named Daniel. They messaged for a couple hours talking about all their similarities that the app matched them for and seemed to have a connection. Later that night they met up at a bar. Daniel was a tall, charming man and finessed Sabrina in the first 10 minutes of being aquainted. He works at the bank where Sabrina had just been given the internship. She thought the app was a miracle worker. She was never able to go out on dates and find a perfect match, but here he was. They had a great night talking and went their seperate ways. The next day, Sabrina recieves a text on her phone saying, “Hey its dan, nice meeting u, id like to see u again”. Sabrina was caught completely off guard, because she distinctly remembered not giving him her number. She thought that maybe the alcohol from the previous night was playing with her memory. She replied to him “Yea sounds good, how’s tonight?” and they confirmed another date for later that evening. Daniel came over to Sabrina’s place to pick her up and has a little interaction with her roommate Chelsea. As soon as she spotted him she gasped and asked what he was doing here. Daniel was shocked to see Chelsea and as soon as Sabrina walked into the living room she knew there was tension. Chelsea had gotten out with Daniel before and was apparently heart broken when he left. Chelsea was furious that Sabrina would even think of going out with him knowing this information but she was still upset with her from earlier and against her better judgement, left with Daniel. About a week or two later, her relationship with Daniel progresses. He comes over to her apartment more often and Chelsea was not happy about it. Sabrina is happy with her new relationship, job and school accomplishments more than ever before. Soon she opens SocialMD and sees a message request. Its from an unknown user, and it says “How you doing whore?”. She feels shivers when she reads the message and instantly replies “Who is this ???” The unknown messenger disregards the question and follows up with “You’re a dirty slutt and i’m going to make sure everyone knows”. Sabrina attempted to message back but the culprit didn’t reply. A few days later Sabrina gets a spam of message notifications. She opens her phone and sees a spray of hurtful comments. She goes on SocialMD and sees that theres an unfamiliar post on her account. It says “Im a dirty little whore, whoever wants it come get it”. Under it was a bunch of nasty comments calling her out for being a slutt and discusting. Sabrina was in shock after laying eyes on the screen. She knew she hadn’t posted that and didn’t know who did it or what to do. She continues scrolling through the messages and passes Daniel. He messeged her saying “So this is what you do huh, use SocialMD to fool around, well im done, we’re done!!” Sabrina tried reaching out to her followers and Daniel that she wasn’t behind the post but nobody believed her because SocialMD was a powerful software and it is extremely difficult to hack an account. She turns to her friends for support but they also seem to have become cold towards her due to this one post. Sabrina was alone swamped in anxiety and depression and didn’t know what to do. In school, and work everyone seemed to know due to the effectiveness of the application. Sabrina tried to hold on to herself but everywhere she went someone would have a nasty remark or exclude her and it became unbearable. Sabrina made an attempt to take her own life by suffocation on carbon monoxide by leaving a car engine on in a closed garage. She was unconscious when her roommate found her. Chelsea called 911 and the ambulance immediately brought her to the emergency room. She was saved but due to the lack of oxygen to her brain, she was declared brain dead. Later on an investigation was held and weeks later Chelsea was arrested for manslaughter, for causing the suicide of her roommate due to impersonation of a social media account and falsely exposing her.
