Alex F. Mills is Professor of Operations Management in the Zicklin School of Business at Baruch College, and a member of the doctoral faculty in Business at the Graduate Center, both in the City University of New York. He is also the Academic Director of the Zicklin Executive MBA in Healthcare Administration at Baruch College.
Professor Mills is an expert in operations management and business analytics, with a focus on healthcare services. His research focuses on economic incentives in healthcare, demand management, allocation of provider resources, and system response to disruptions. He uses a wide range of methodology, including stochastic modeling, optimization, and data analysis. His research has been published in top-ranked journals including Management Science, Manufacturing & Service Operations Management, Operations Research, and Production and Operations Management. Professor Mills serves as an Associate Editor at Manufacturing & Service Operations Management and as a Senior Editor at Production and Operations Management.
Professor Mills teaches courses in operations management and business analytics, including the Executive MBA course “Healthcare Analytics and Quality”. He currently serves as the Area Coordinator for Operations Management in the N. P. Loomba Department of Management. In addition to excellence in teaching operations management and business analytics, his pedagogical expertise includes fully online teaching and learning, and doctoral dissertation advisement.
Prior to his time at CUNY, Professor Mills was Associate Professor of Operations and Decision Technologies at the Kelley School of Business, Indiana University. Professor Mills earned his PhD in Statistics and Operations Research from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and an undergraduate degree in mathematics from the College of William and Mary.
