Prospective students: Fully-funded PhD positions are available in our program.
Are you interested in working with me as a PhD student? I seek students who:
- want to obtain an academic position at a Business school,
- have an interest in working on research problems that arise in the service sector, including (but not limited to) healthcare,
- have a strong general mathematics background, including a working understanding of Calculus-based probability (a Master’s degree is not required if you have the requisite mathematical background via a Bachelor’s degree).
If this sounds like you, please apply to the PhD in Business at the CUNY Graduate Center and select the concentration in Operations and Decision Analytics. Your personal statement should discuss your research interests and you should feel free to mention that you are interested in working with me (particularly if you can explain how our research interests overlap).
If you’d like to discuss your interest prior to applying, please feel free to contact me and articulate the qualifications mentioned above. Note: I receive many e-mails from aspiring doctoral students with unrelated research interests who are simply mass-mailing every faculty member at US business schools; this is not an effective tactic and it is unlikely to get a response. I am happy to discuss your candidacy for the ODA program if you send a personal message that explains why you are specifically interested in talking to me.
