Video Pitch

Idea 1:
Talk to citi bike riders about their opinions on the citi bike infrastructure. There have been statistics that show the stations and bikes have been in decline over the years, rather than an improved service. Also talk about the state of the bike lanes throughout the city.

Idea 2:
The NBA in-season tournament is being played for the first time ever and it has caused so much confusion. No one truly knows how its played or why it’s being played. I would talk to New York basketball fans about their opinions for the tournament and if it makes sense to them or beneficial for the league and entertainment. Or if it’s just a confusing mess.

Video Project Pitch

The first idea I have is to focus on the club life at Baruch but mainly focus on Baruch’s culture clubs in particular the Latin American Student Organization (LASO) who has been around for a long time. With this story I can focus on how they build community, host events, and create bonds. The club has some upcoming events and activities that I will be attending and can get some peoples thoughts on the club, how it create a community and a safe space for students. I can have and intro of the club then transition to the activities and outings the club has but also have content on the club room environment. People playing games, talking, working, playing music, and dancing .

The second idea I have is going to focus on the Union Square Christmas Market. The Market comes only during the Christmas season and it will be open starting November 16 up until Christmas. I have been to there before. There is a lot of vendors  who take part in the Market from food to Jewelry to furniture and much more. I would like to focus on a vendor that I always purchase from who creates earrings! I would focus on their background, how the business started, but also how the market helps them promote their products. The only downside of this is I am not sure if the vendor will be there this year.

Cosplay Video Pitch

I’m hoping to interview a cosplayer. There’s a lot of visual spectacle to cosplay and crafting. I think there’s also an interesting story to be told about the process of organizing fan events. I have a friend who cosplays and she tells me she’s happy to connect me with one of her friends for an interview. They’re involved in organizing Cosplay Contests and cosplay themselves. I’m hoping to do an interview in their home so I can also get some footage of them showing me their costumes and crafting station. There’s a con this weekend where I can hopefully get some b-roll because the press of people and costumes at cons is so visually striking.

Due to ongoing political tensions I was thinking to covering protests and demonstrations that highlights organizers rallying and spreading the word. I was thinking of an organization called DRUM (Desis Rising Up and Moving) which deals with socioeconomic issues that affect the south Asian, indo-Caribbean diaspora. I could interview people who are part of the organization by visiting their office and giving a rundown for any current actions they are organizing for. Capturing shots of the inside of the office and people making flyers/protest boards or calling/emailing representatives.

Yosakoi is a style of dance that originated in Japan in 1954. A friend of mine is in a dance group named Kogyoku Yosakoi based in New York. The group was founded in 2021; since then they’ve performed at JapanFest and Japan Parade and have even flown out to D.C. for a show. With permission, I’d like to speak to the co-founders and a few members about their experiences thus far and what they have planned for the future. If possible, I’d love to visit some of their practice sessions, follow them to a performance, and get a few behind-the-scenes shots. If I can follow them to a performance, I’d love to hopefully get some opinions from the audience members as well.

SUPA Magazine was a magazine she built from the ground up, with digital and print issues. I would like to film a day in her life mixing music and picking out outfits and working for the magazine.

Throughout the year, Hip-Hop has been celebrating it’s 50th birthday. I think it will be interesting to interview a graffiti artist and DJ who got his start in 1986 and is still going. His name is Sen4 and he is known as the dumpster king. I want to ask about his start and how he feels about the culture now.
