Photoville Assignment

For my photoville assignment, I decided to do Adobe’s Creating Dramatic Black and White images. The experiences was good because there was alot of motivated people in the zoom call and it was interesting for me because I have never in a class where we learned about the amazing work of taking photos and how much time and patience it requires. I always thought it was one snap and done but, my perspective changed after. Our instructor Lisa Carney was very sweet and caring. She explained everything well and in-depth. She realized the information she was giving us was a lot so, she went as slow as possible. In the session, she talked about the beauty of mobile photographs. She said “It’s not the wand, it’s the wizard”. That quote was inspiring because a lot of people don’t have high equipment to take pictures. She introduced us to an app that anyone could download called Light Room. It’s a great app that lets you take any pictures and turn it into beautiful looking black and white shots. There are 5 camera choices, which are automatic, pro, hdr, long exposure and depth capture. My favorite one is the depth capture because you can highlight the part the photo that you want to make sharper and turn it into black and white while the highlighted part is more focus and light. She went on to explain the best camera settings to use, and just how to use the app in general. I learned a lot of things in there. One is you can take a bad photo and turn it into a good black and white photo just by using light room. Another thing is that no matter how bad your equipment is, you can still take great photos.
