Cellphones Everywhere

Cellphones can truly be found in the hands or pockets of almost everyone you encounter on the streets of New York City, but in ruralĀ Africa, this is not the case. As current as five years ago, you would have had been considered to be among one of the very wealthy to own a cellphone in rural Africa. But after providers offered cheap airtime for Africa, many are starting to own phones. Even a woman who has to walk four hours to get water, has no electricity, and hand washes clothing, has a cellphone to communicate with her husband. In a place as far out as the middle of a river, a person has a cellphone, and she uses it for her fishing business. Cellphones are spreading everywhere.
