While I was on the reference desk 4-6 BCTC told me that they had completed their work on relocating the graduate student computers to the second floor. I appears that they are on in the tables located at 4A. BCTC put up a sign,Graduate Computer Workstations, which apparently was used previously because it refers to the computers being located on the 3rd, 4th and 5th floors. Early in my reference desk shift some grad students wondered about the removal of the computers from the floors.
The Graduate Student Workstations were moved to the second floor to enhance technical support (they are closer to BCTC staff in yellow jackets now), to be closer to the printers on the second floor, for access during midterms & finals when the lower floors of the library are open 24/7, and in response to graduate students’ requests. I asked BCTC to notify me prior to the move so I could alert students and librarians. Unfortunately, I was not notified. Perhaps their enthusiasm and workload did not allow for this communication. So, apologies for the surprise. I am updating the Ref Wiki and Graduate Services LibGuide. I will label the workstations on the second floor and post a notice about the move on the 3rd, 4th and 5th floors. -Linda
