I’d like to provide more background on my family. These circumstances have had a profound impact on my personal and professional development. My parents separated before I was born. Because of the love for me, my mom decided to keep me and remarried someone else. That person was my (step)father. Unfortunately, due to a serious illness, he passed away two years later. At that time, I was only two years old. I had no memories of him and did not even know what he looked like. After his passing, my mother went to work far away, only returning home once a year.  As a result, I was raised by my grandmother from then until now.

My grandmother always instilled in me the belief that being proficient in the kitchen, cleaning lady, or doing any other household chore that society sees as the responsibility of women is not necessary to succeed. Instead, she said that all I need is a strong academic background, a wealth of knowledge, and experience to become wealthy and to take charge of life in general, refusing to let obstacles stand in the way of the ambitions. I’ll get used to things, but not as hard as they are now with her.

Lets continue with the story

All about me

Growing up without siblings and lacking parental love, I was very timid. However, I fortunate to have my grandmother, who was very intelligent and understanding. She took my mother’s place and raised me with great care. Thanks to her support, I achieved strong academic results and began to participate in social activities, transforming into a more active and livelier individual.

Everything continued like that until I was in 11th grade, that was the time when my family faced an economic crisis when my mother accidentally lost her job and had many other connections due to her involvement in politics. My family had to spend a lot of money and assets to support my mother. And it was also when I first met my biological father, this page is too short for me to describe my feelings at that time, more than shock and surprise. It turned out that the person I thought was my biological father, the person whose last name I had, the person I thought had passed away a long time ago, was not related by blood to me. I also knew the reason for the separation between my parents and I blamed my parents for being too selfish, badly affecting the family. But what was more disappointing was that my father appeared not to take back his child who was me but because of his financial problems. Because of my father, my mother’s work cannot esolved and accidentally destroyed my career dream. The Ministry of Public Security (MPS) is one of the four most powerful government agencies in Vietnam, that is the place I aim to work after graduation in United States. I even deferred the promotion to become full time employee after finishing the internship and planning on return to my country to apply working in the ministry. However, they conduct background checks for three generations of family history including my parents, their stringent family background check for unresolved job issues of my mom and complicated family circumstances ultimately barred me from the opportunity. I was unable to work there even though I had education and experience that surpassed all other candidates.

After that, I went through a difficult period of withdrawal and sadness as I came to terms with not being able to fulfill this dream. But I stand up again by making a decision to accept the offer at Morgan Stanley and applied to pursue an MBA at Cornell University. These experiences have reinforced my determination and adaptability, qualities that will guide me through the next steps in my career

Next, I want to mention about my education path. Before transferred to Baruch College, I was enrolled as an undergraduate student in Hanoi University. I only studied here for three semesters since Fall 2019 to Fall 2021. However, I had a great time because I got to meet new people and experience life at a Vietnamese university. This is where I can additionally improve my foreign language abilities, enhance my English, acquire communication techniques, and obtain more experiences through a temporary position. All of these things will serve as the groundwork for me to study overseas and build my resume. I created and flourished a business club at school where students may learn a lot about financial consulting and running a firm through joint stock processes. This is also the place where I took my initial steps toward becoming a model. I took part in Miss Hanoi University, a university student beauty pageant of sorts. I followed by beginning to model the school uniform. Those images have gained significantly in popularity. To thoroughly comprehend the idea and its implications, you can read my blogs or view the information on the media website.

Hanoi University is just a stepping stone for my learning journey. On 10 March 2022, I received an acceptance letter from Baruch College and officially became a bearcat in August 2022 (the first date of the studying program in the Fall semester). I’m an international student on F1 visa status, besides the quality of the learning environment, the issue of tuition is what I am always most concerned about. Because it is a public school, Baruch’s tuition is very cheap and suitable for low-income students like me. And for a public school in New York in general and in the US in particular, Baruch is an extremely great school in every aspect. As someone who is completely content with a calm environment, Baruch College has been the perfect place for me as a student. I wouldn’t say that there are no events or fun activities because there are a bunch that are offered here at Baruch, but comparing the school to another campus that are known for the student life and all the parties outside the campus scheduled activities, Baruch might now be the top of that list. I actually enjoy Baruch. Its diversity attracts me every day. I enjoy everyone’s company and meeting new people. All professors are very generous and understanding. The school advisor’s passion and commitment, especially that of my international student advisor (DSO), is what I adore the most. After a challenging experience with visa complications and returning to the United States, the adviser provided me with invaluable support in completing legal documentation and other necessary activities to provide benefits for both my immigration and education.

I did not let the information in Hanoi University on my resume cause its did not relying much attention on my relevant skills I got, but this is the first steps for my experience after all
