Art can be one of the most intimidating subjects to approach, especially to the unfamiliar. Famous artists and museums tend to garner the attention of millions and the media. What is a better way to introduce a person who is new to the art scene? What is a cheaper alternative? How do new and emerging artists get their work out?
My blog is meant for people who are interested in art, but do not know where to start; college students looking for interesting adventures in the boroughs; people looking for their next Instagram-worthy shot; the frugal person who does not want to spend exuberant amounts of money to attend an art show; and those interested in the idea of a pop-up art exhibit.
Not Your Chelsea Art will try to steer away from the usual locations like Chelsea, SoHo, and TriBeCa and will offer a unique perspective from a student who does not have professional experience or knowledge (re: a degree) in the arts.
My goal is to help people wet their feet in the art scene and inform people of the many pop-ups that might fall outside the radar of mainstream news coverage.
