City Winery

Some days a glass of wine and a good show are about all you want out of life. Fortunately, City Winery provides both. This sexy space makes a great music venue (the Roots were doing a warm-up when I went!), and offers a killer, Napa Valley-style wine list and food menu to seal the deal. They even offer tastings and classes if you’re looking to get your knowledge/drink on at the same time. Take a seat at the bar and strike up a conversation; most patrons are amicable. But a heads up: avoid the nights where there isn’t some form of event. The space is big enough to feel awkward without a mutual distraction.

Bottom Line:

  • Size: cavernous
  • Atmosphere: jovial
  • Outdoor space: nope
  • Seating: yes
  • Food: yes
  • Live music: most days of the week, see website for schedule
  • Crowd: friendly, wine-and-music loving bunch
  • Staff: pleasant and knowledgeable
