This article is about how the consumption of coffee in a island that is very far away from us may be helping the residents there live longer lives! The people who live in Ikaria , a Greek Island, are known for having high life expectancies. Dr.Gerasimos Siasos, a professor at a university in Greece, along with various colleagues conducted a report, that suggests that a reason that these people from Ikaria live longer lives is because of the coffee they drink. According to this study, the coffee may be helping the bodies of these people generate more antioxidants and have better functioning endotheliums which is the layer of cells that line blood vessels. This may result in less hear attacks and arterial occlusions. There are also other factors that can be contributing to the people of Ikaria living longer like their diets and how many hours of sleep they get. But coffee may be one of the main reasons why they are living so long.
