  1. I think you did a good job of explaining why student debt is a real problem in this country. College graduates are putting their lives on hold because they can’t afford to buy a house or a car, start a family, or (as you mention) start their own business. In addition, ever since the recession, I feel like it’s been a lot harder for students to get a job in their field right after graduating. With no job, how are you supposed to start paying back your debt? It’s putting so much more strain on students, and on the country as a whole.
    It would be interesting to see a comparison between the U.S. and a country that offers free or low cost education. Is that country doing better than the U.S. in certain areas because of this policy?

    1. Allison, I’ll have to look more into this more in terms of how those from other countries fare in comparison to students here in the United States. I do know that, generally, this is at least not as big an issue for others around the world, although the youth are being disadvantaged due to other policies that governments are pushing (for example, austerity measures in many European nations).
