With the primary season upon us, potential voters are voicing their opinions on which candidates they support via digital and face to face word of mouth. But, when it comes to having an opinion on someone, no one is more polarizing than businessman and Republican front runner Donald Trump.
Many of New York City’s urban artists have been hitting the streets and galleries painting murals and canvases to send a message of opposition for Trump. One artist in particular has used his popularity to create a new movement — one he satirically calls the “Dump Trump Bowel Movement.” And from the look of the support he is getting from his peers and the public alike, this campaign to rid the political world of the former Apprentice star may actually gain momentum just in time for the general election.
“It’s not politics, it’s common sense,” said prankster and political artist Hanksy, the leader of the movement.

Hanksy, a New York community artist well known for his Trump mural on Orchard Street and Canal Street, is using his local fame to force Trump out of the presidential race. His notorious poop emoji, a lump excrement implanted with Trump’s face, now rests on pins, T-shirts, lawn signs and picket signs. The poop Trump emoji was also spotted during the heated events leading up to and following Trump’s recently cancelled Chicago rally before the Illinois primaries.

The mural has gain so much popularity, it was even transformed into a mobile game called “Dump Trump“. An “Angry Birds” inspired game, the objective of app is to have birds land feces on a Trump animation. Each successful dump turns Trump more into the emoji mural created by Hanksy. According to Mashable, within days of the game’s release, it rose to number 2 on the iTunes popularity charts for free downloads.
“I’m not a political Group”, Hanksy has previously mentioned inĀ interviews. “I’m just one stupid kid from the Lower East Side who wants to get his image in the hands of people and let them run with it.”
But on Saturday, March 12th, Hanksy and his crew, the DooDoo Boyz, orchestrated their first rally in Midtown Manhattan while Trump’s presidential rally was simultaneously occurring in Ohio. The initial gathering in the City, a public rally open to anyone interested, was cancelled because “something came up,” Hanksy said in a direct message. Nonetheless, Hanksy still hit the streets in a smaller capacity, handing out free “Dump Across America” lapel pins while escorted by a talented drum line parading gleefully to Bryant Park, Times Square, and near Fox News HQ as well as Trump owned buildings on 5th Avenue and Columbus Circle.
The posse depicting garbage men dressed in white jump suits with Trump poop logos on their backs received ovation from tourists and New York residents as people joined their mini parade, honked their horns in appreciation and joined in on chants such as “Flush him, Flush him, Dump Trump.”
“I think this is brilliant and resonates with the feelings a lot of people in America are feeling, even those not in New York.” said Ryan McGough, a tourist visiting from Utah.
