Their mission:

The Retail Action Project (RAP) is a member-based organization with the mission of building worker power, elevating industry standards, and promoting family-sustaining jobs. We achieve this through engaging in collective action, highlighting worker voices, growing workers’ professional capacity, and nurturing member leadership.

RAP was founded in 2005 as a community labor partnership between the Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union (RWDSU, UFCW) and the Good Old Lower East Side (GOLES) which helped thousands of low-wage New York City retail workers fight wage theft and win millions in unpaid wages, and expanded into a membership organization in 2010.
