Columbia Access Neuroscience (CAN) is two-day event for students from underrepresented backgrounds who are interested in pursuing a Ph.D. in neuroscience.
In this program, you will learn about how to compose a competitive application, how to navigate graduate school interviews and about life as a PhD student, as well as talk about the latest neuroscience research.
Individuals from an underrepresented racial or ethnic group (defined by the National Science Foundation) include:
- Blacks or African Americans,
- Hispanics or Latinos
- American Indians or Alaska Natives
- Native Hawaiians and other Pacific Islanders
- Individuals who are first generation U.S. Citizens or first generation in their families to attend a four-year college
- Individuals who have experienced financial hardship as a result of family economic circumstances
- Individuals with disabilities, who are defined as those with a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities
The program will be virtual on April 22nd and April 23rd, 2022.
Make sure that you turn in your application by February 25th, 2022! You will need additional components (a letter of recommendation and a personal statement) to submit along with your filled-out application form.
