On The Power of Positive Thinking

Some people believe that the way you think is the way you think is the way you think. I know you’re wondering if I was stuttering or something there, but no – the way we think can be changed. It takes time and ongoing effort, but it is possible. That’s why the power of positive thinking can begin to ignite your life if you work at it, even if you’ve always expected the worst to happen.

Why Change

Changing the way you think will take time, but it is worth it. Do you want to wake every morning and be happy? Do you want to feel less stressed and sense that even in the hardest moments you are going to get through it and prosper? Do you want to recognize and bask in the abundance of your life? As you make the effort to bring positive thinking into your life that can all be yours.

Okay, you may be saying, look at those silly ideas – claiming that is all true isn’t going to change my life, even a little bit. And that’s true, you are the agent of change, you have to make the daily choices to change no matter what you are trying to accomplish.

But for your doubting mind, here is something from science that is true and you can test it yourself quite easily. The subconscious mind does not compute a negative. That’s why if you use affirmations it is very important that you state them in positive terms. Don’t say, “I’m not going to be poor anymore.” Instead say, “I enjoy great abundance in my life.” That’s just an example. So learn to talk to yourself in positive terms and you won’t spend nearly as much time fighting against yourself. To prove it, speed read over a couple of things and look at how many times you have to reread something because it didn’t make sense until you read it again and found the negative words.

What’s the difference

Positive thinkers tend to express gratitude and feel thankful, even when things seem to be going all wrong. They look for how to gain something from difficult experiences. One question you can ask yourself as you work on changing your thinking … “What can I learn from this?” When trials seem to last far too long, ask that one a lot. If you look at a trial as an opportunity to learn and grow, you are no longer a victim, but a student. And if you are looking for those answers, your mind can always find them.

Positive thinking is not just a buzzword, it is a choice and you can make it, or continue to be victimized by the ups and downs of every life. Most of us want the feeling of power that comes with making it through a challenge, learning new lessons, and getting on to the next great adventure in life. Do you want to be one of them?
