I am articulate and have good communication skills. I know what to say and when to say it. When I’m around friends I talk very casually with no hold barred. Some would describe it as “ghetto” or “street” talk. I feel comfortable talking with my friends and that’s why I talk the way I do. I’m aware that this “language” is not appropriate in all settings. When I’m talking to my family I talk casually but in a more polite and respectful way. I mostly speak Bengali at home. It’s easier to communicate with my parents and relatives because their first language is not English. I would say I am quite fluent in Bengali so it’s not a problem for me. However, when I’m at work I have to speak more formal. Language is how we use it and how we represent ourselves. I use different “languages” in different settings. It’s all about your audience.
