FRO13 FTA: The Middle Class Gets Wiser
The reason why this post article is called “The middle class gets wiser” is because when the Lehman collapse triggered, college dropouts increased drastically. From 2000 to 2006, about 25% of Americans were attending college. A new study in 2011 shows that now about 30% of boys and 38% of girls attend college. There are now about more than 3.2 million students enrolled in college than there were back in 2006. This N.Y.Times Article talks about the benefits of college students. Some of the main points made in this article are that most of the people that have a college degree between ages 25 to 29 tend to make up to $15,000 more than people with just an associates degree. But people with a professional degree can make up to $35,000 more than people with a bachelors degree. Also if a person that comes from a middle class family and attends college, has a high chance of getting himself/herself into the high class. The hardest working college students are those that come from a working class/low middle class that jump to the rich class. About 37 of those students jump to the rich quintile. Although there is an increase in college degrees, there are still about 37 million Americans that went to a 4 year college but do not have a bachelors degree.
