Mezcal
Mezcal has taken New York by a storm. Mezcal is a mexican alcoholic beverage which is seen as a stronger alternative to Tequila and is now being mixed into cocktails everywhere. Rather than using sugar as a sweetener, Mezcal, like Tequila utilizes Agave, a plant, as it’s sweetener. Although Tequila is supposed to be made using only Blue Agave, Mezcal can be made with up to 30 different types of Agave, not only blue. Many different cocktail aficionados have been using Mezcal in their new creative cocktail recipes. Brian Van Flandern, a member of Creative Cocktail Consultants, has written a cocktail recipe book, “Craft Cocktails,” Van Flandern uses Mezcal in quite a few of his recipes such as “Rum and Smoke,” which also uses Lagavulin Scotch.Go Deeper into Mexico
