The majority of people love the sense of home and stability, and nice sense of security. “The good ol’ days” don’t really exist but people still have this image of the homey old local diner.
I’m firmly convinced that I live near the best diner in New York City, possibly even the whole world. Everyone thinks their local diner is the best diner in the world but Pier 72, on the corner of West End and 72nd street, really is the best. It is good and it stays good. I’ve been going to that diner ever since I can remember and it’s the only place in my neighborhood that I will actually eat at since it’s all I can afford. I’ve been there with my mother, my father, my brothers, my aunt, my grandparents. It’s always been somewhere I was excited to go on a late Sunday or Saturday. Any local restaurant can really give this important connection for people, the people you recognize the food you remember. It’s this sense of stability, a constant in you life. I moved around a lot more than I would have liked to when I was a child. The local diner was the only thing that stayed the same when I moved back. It’s something that I can rely on.
