Here’s a checklist of what you’ll need to do to complete the requirements of the seminar.
☑ Attend each Core Session meeting.
Our seminar will be conducted as a three-part series of Core Session meetings, held biweekly on Zoom. Everyone should attend the following:
Considering Student Engagement in Your Assessment Approach
☑ Complete Session Prep assignments before each Core Session.
Each Core Session will have preparatory tasks associated with it, which you should complete before each core meeting above. Session Prep instructions will be posted on this site in advance of each meeting.
Session Prep will include:
- Blog (Blogs@Baruch) and video (Vocat) posting prompts
- Deadlines for feedback on peers’ posts
- Teaching artifact development materials/deadlines
☑ Attend synchronous workshops and/or participate in asynchronous activities (2 minimum total).
To supplement our Core Sessions, you’ll also be expected to:
- Choose and participate in at least two workshops or activities from among this menu of programming options.
- Complete an exit ticket for each workshop you attend.
☑ Submit a Teaching Artifact
Throughout the seminar, you’ll be expected to draft and submit a teaching artifact that reflects your plan to foster student engagement in your course (i.e. sample discussion board prompt, revised assignment, etc.). The teaching artifact you submit should build upon and revise previous pedagogical work for the course. You’ll be asked first to submit the original materials you’d like to review and revise.
☑ Schedule an Appointment and Meet with a CTL Advisor
Each seminar participant is expected to discuss their work on the artifact during a one-on-one consultation with a member of the CTL staff. You can go ahead and schedule that now using our appointment system here. You can schedule your appointment for any time after the start of the seminar and before the beginning of the Spring 2022 semester.
☑ Participate in the post-seminar assessment and reflection.
We ask that you please fill out follow-up survey about how things went for you, and how we can improve in future iterations of the Student Engagement Seminar.
Please fill out this seminar evaluation with some reflection about your experiences, by December 15th, 2021.
