I like this speech of Shylock. I think it is very powerful. What I got from this speech is that he is a Jew and everyone hates Jew but in reality, Christians are the one mistreating the Jews and not the opposite. And if he has become who he is and behaves the way he does is because the Christians taught him, but he “will better the instruction.”
It’s cool to see the play acted out in a film like this, especially with the final project coming up. Definitely gives me some more inspiration for how to transition a play into something more modern.
I love this film. Al Pacino plays Shylock so well.
In the beginning of this play, I actually felt really bad for Shylock and towards the end of the play, I ended up not liking him much.
