Food Matters

Food Matters at Baruch was born out of the need to generate a dialogue on food policy issues at Baruch College. FMB represents a collective of graduate students dedicated to  bringing food-related educational, professional development and service-oriented opportunities to Baruch’s campus. Our mission is to expose Baruch to pertinent topics in food policy by hosting events such as speaker panels and roundtable discussions with distinguished professionals in the public, non-profit and academic sectors.

We also aim to serve as a platform for bringing together students who are passionate about food through organized volunteer outings and local/urban food tourism activities. Issues of interest include: nutrition, the hunger-obesity paradox, sustainability (agricultural, ecological, economical), food justice and security, food access and barriers, food-related social enterprise and public-private partnership, urban agriculture, and food tourism.
