Both the narrator from the Life of a Sensuous Women and Monkey from the Journey to the West are on their own personal heroic journeys. Compare both of their journeys and describe their self awareness that emerges throughout the texts. For example, What are their goals? What was their ordinary world before they entered their journey?

This is a good question. Although Monkey and the narrator from the Life of a Sensuous Women have two complete opposite personalities, they parallel in their journey. Each character has their own hurdle, but ultimately they share the common goal: enlightenment. It takes a while before both characters have this realization and their changes happen gradually. Or one might argue that both characters don’t achieve their end goal in the journey. The last two questions are helpful, but they do deviate a little away from their similarities. My suggestion is to explicitly focus on the similar emotions and stages that the two characters go through.
I think this is a good question from the way you connected the stories and the things we learned in class. I’ve never thought of the stories having the same type of pattern like being in an ordinary world before their journey, so i think it was interesting that you thought of it like that. However I feel like the question is a little bit broad and it should be a bit more simple. Nonetheless, I like the approach of your question.
This question is great. It makes you think about bothe the Narrator and Monkey, what their similarities and differences are, and how their similarities and differences can be applied to the heroic journey. While the two stories are completely different, they follow the structure of the heroic journey. I also like how you added self-awareness to the question, making the writer put themselves in the characters shoes and see what they are thinking through while on the journey.
I think this is a great question to compare the two stories. It makes the reader connect stories that seem completely different, yet you can realize through analyzation that they both have a underlying similarity. Both stories do follow the heroic journey as both characters seek a ending of enlightenment or peace. I like how the concept of their goals came up, as though it is presented differently their goals are actually very similar. A good approach to this question would be to see how both characters handle each situation they are put in and how they reach their ultimate goal.
