PowerPlay Words by Mohammed Baba…
Power play defines society…recently I was a victim…when shopping, I paid for the item with an evidence of receipt, however for some reason the cashier presumably forgot to set off the sensor tag. At the checkpoint the guards scanned my receipt but while walking out, the merchandise started beeping.
In this incident “racial profiling” eventually lead to a pattern of false theft, accusations, wrongful detention and harassment when no real probable cause existed…they was at fault.
The thought of racial profiling is distasteful. I believe that retail store personnel use “profiling” tactics as means of determining which customers are most likely to steal, which evidently defines power play, however the answer is undeniably, yes. Based on what I have personally experienced.
I also strongly believe that merchants don’t like monitoring their customers to prevent theft, but it’s a matter of economic survival but this shouldn’t give them the rights to defile someone’s (me personally) rights by committing the act of racial profiling.
