Milgram Obedience Study

“Its painful, but not dangerous”

“My number one choice is that I wouldn’t go on if I had thought he was being harmed”

This was a very informative experiment. It shows how humans will behave irrationally given the power and means to. Obedience and discipline are traits every person should master, but not blind obedience where another man is being hurt. The educators’ goal was not to hurt the subject, but that did not stop them from shocking upon an incorrect answer. The first subject even state he has heart conditions that could be lethal. The doctor told him it was “painful, but not dangerous” when he knew the last stage on the shock machine was dangerously painful. This experiment reminded me of the Stanford Prison Experiment which also shows how humans abuse authority when given the opportunity.
