Nana Williams is the 2022 Metropolitan youth champion and will fight in the finals of the 2023 Ring Masters Tournament on April 1st at Gleason’s gym.
Williams was trained by Lennox Blackmoore and followed a strict training regimen for years which gave him a solid foundation. Blackmoore would have the young prodigy follow the same routine of 4 rounds shadowboxing, 4 rounds heavy bag or pad-work, 3 rounds double-end bag and 3 rounds speed bag and 3 rounds of skipping. He would also have Williams run 3-4 miles every other day to improve his endurance.
In February 2022, Rawle Ramsey returned to Gleason’s gym to train fighters. Ramsey who works with Blackmoore, took over Williams’s training to turn him into an amateur champion. Under Ramsey, Williams began sparring many fighters such as professional boxer and former Golden Glove champion Waris Aminy. Since training with Ramsey, Nana began sparring 2-3 times a week with amateur and professional boxers and his recent sparring partner is Kurt Scooby who is an 11-0 (9 KO) professional who just made his Showtime debut.
Williams has a strong work ethic and is extremely disciplined. He said “I just work very hard” when asked how he gained his recent success.

Goals
William’s wants to become a professional boxer and has aspirations of becoming a World Champion one day. He says that he is currently focused on building a strong amateur boxing resume so that he can capture the attention of popular promoters such as Eddie Hearn from Matchroom Boxing or Bob Arum of Top Rank and get a promotional deal to turn professional.
He has already won the Metropolitan championships which already is a great accomplishment and he’ll be fighting for the Ringmasters tittle on April 1st which is the largest and most prestigious amateur boxing tournament in New York. Nana plans to fight in the New York Boxing Tournament which is an annual tournament held in NYC every summer.
Eventually he plans on fighting in the nationals and Olympic Qualifier/Trials to get on team USA to represent USA in the Olympics. Williams also doesn’t mind representing his ethnic nation of Ghana where he was born. Williams just wants to showcase his talent in the highest stage and become a great boxer. He idolizes Roy Jones jr. and dreams of become a legendary champion just like Jones.
