Pro Legalization of Marijuana
In the article “Marijuana Legalization: The Republican Argument For Doing It” Ryan Schuette states several reasons as he tries to argue for the legalization of Marijuana. He first goes to argue that studies show the legalization of marijuana would be beneficial to our economic system by creating jobs. It would generate in revenues as much as $8.7 billion. Through the legalization of marijuana the U.S. would save millions, possibly billion dollars in taxpayer funds that is used to arrest non violent crimes. 47% of inmates are arrested due to drug related offenses, these are unnecessary arrests that are not only wasting taxpayer funds but as well as wasting space for real hard core criminals. The selling of marijuana is a huge market within the criminal society. If marijuana were to be legalized; these additional revenue would be taken from criminal funds and into the economy where it can do real good. The legalization of marijuana would not only stimulate America’s weak economy but would also help relieve pain from critically ill patients. These are only a few reason as to why marijuana should be legalized.
