The Funded Frontier

Modern slavery and human trafficking, which usually overlap, has been a widespread and expanding problem of the 21st century. Each year millions of individuals are trafficked and then forced to either provide free labor or sexual pleasures against their will. These humans are treated as mere property and goods to be transported and sold from border to border. Many of these sex slaves are women and come from the poor, rural places of the world. Although recognized as an international crime, governments and nations do little on their own to tackle the issue. And so the United Nations has arranged for a global fund, which has been signed and approved by 117 countries, in an effort to hopefully and eventually resolve the matter.
