Jean Amador, Ph.D.

Jael Amador, Ph.D.

Dr. Jael Amador is NYS licensed psychologist who provides individual and group therapy, supervision, crisis intervention and outreach services at the Baruch College Counseling Center. Her clinical approach integrates cognitive behavioral therapy and trauma-informed care with feminist/multicultural theory to treat a wide range of issues. She currently co-leads the Trauma-Informed Peer Supervision group for Counseling Center staff, as well teaches seminars on Trauma-Informed Care and Resiliency for the Counseling Center training class.  Dr. Amador earned her doctorate degree from Loma Linda University where she specialized in socio-cultural behavioral health. In her research, she explores the impact of culture on psychological processes and behavior. She currently serves as a member of the International Behavioral Health Trauma Team and the APA Health Equity Ambassadors program.

Jean Amaral (MLIS, MA), Associate Professor and Open Knowledge Librarian at Borough of Manhattan Community College, partners with faculty across disciplines to create active and engaging learning experiences for students through open knowledge practices, such as open educational resources and Wikipedia edit-a-thons. Having taught information literacy, as well as literature and composition, for several years, Amaral strives for student-centered learning experiences with a focus on asset pedagogies including culturally sustaining and trauma informed pedagogy and universal design for learning.

Daphna Ziffer is a graduate student at Baruch’s Weissman School of Arts and Science where she is getting a masters in Mental Health Counseling. Daphna went to Stern College for women for her bachelors where she majored in psychology and got an associates degree in Judaic Studies. Daphna is originally from Maryland but came to New York for college and has enjoyed spending time with friends exploring New York and making the city her new home.

Stanzi Wicht

Stanzi Wicht is a graduate student pursuing her Masters in Mental Health Counseling at Baruch’s Weissman School of Arts and Sciences. She has completed courses in Internal Family Systems Therapy, Hakomi Mindful Somatic Psychotherapy, and Awakened Awareness for Adolescents and Young Adults. She is also trained as a Zendo Project Sitter to provide peer support for challenging psychological and psychedelic experiences. Stanzi is an advocate for research in psychedelic-assisted therapy and has volunteered at the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies, North Star and the UC Berkeley Center for the Science of Psychedelics. Stanzi is originally from Cape Town, South Africa and appreciates how the creativity, humor and love of nature in her culture has informed her outlook on the world.

Anna D’Souza, Ph.D.

Anna D’Souza, Ph.D.

Associate Professor, Marxe School of Public and International Affairs, Baruch College

Anna D’Souza is a development economist who tries to understand factors and inform policies related to poverty and development, with an emphasis on food insecurity and malnutrition. Her research areas include food and nutrition security, price shocks, household coping mechanisms, conflict and instability, governance, and international trade. After receiving her Ph.D. in Economics from UCLA, Anna was a research economist at the Economic Research Service (ERS), U.S. Department of Agriculture. She also worked as a consultant for the World Bank, served as an adjunct professor at the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), and was a visiting fellow at the Robert F. Wagner School of Public Service at New York University (NYU). Prior to her graduate studies, Anna was a small enterprise development volunteer with the U.S. Peace Corps in Dakar, Senegal. Professor D’Souza holds a B.S. in Finance and Economics from the Stern School of Business at NYU and an M.S. and Ph.D. in Economics from UCLA.
