This is a reference to the scene where Othello is suspicious of Desemonda’s faithfulness and questions her on the whereabouts of the handkerchief that he gave her as a token of his love. She is not aware that Iago has been filling Othello’s head with assumptions in regard to her relationship with Othello so she is defenseless against Othello’s accusations. The handkerchief going missing was the main evidence that Iago used to show her as an unfaithful wife to Othello and that is a turning point in the play

In this play, the events and the emotions of his characters escalate quickly and they usually lead to deaths. This is a reference to how Othello loses complete control over his emotions once he is convinced that his wife has been unfaithful to him. He became completely hopeless and was ready to murder her without second guessing his thoughts, all based on the evil-doings of Iago.
