Project 1 Artists Statement

The object I focused on is condoms but I portrayed them in an unconventional, almost fun manner. I decided to have the camera go in and out of focus on the condom packet and the second shot is silhouetted too and all you hear is me blowing into the condom but you still can’t clearly see it. This keeps the viewer unsure of what the object is until the third shot where it is completely in focus. My favorite shot is the last one where I walk in the condoms and you can hear my feet squishing them. The shot has a sort of innocence to it. I think the ambient noise enhances the playfulness of the video. The tungsten lighting I thought added a nostalgic feeling. These were all intentional decisions to add humor to the object but also have undertones have something far serious.
