I didn’t know what to think of the show. The voidness of the gallery space left lots of space for feeling. The sculptures were extremely minimalistic and mono or duotone. This made the overall look and feel of the work slow and sad. The pieces left a lot of room for interpretation and I often found myself feeling tense walking around the space and observing the work. At one point, I couldn’t determine what the feeling of the work was at all. The video components of the show were extremely confusing. I also questioned the purpose and meaning of some of the simple sculptures. (They kind of looked like abandoned items forgotten in the gallery.)
Overall, though, as I left the gallery I did feel something. Whatever that may be. The pieces left a lot up to interpretation, but I think there was a lot of tension dealing with gender/sexuality and utilitarianism.
