Question 1.
The moment on the video that helped shaped the meaning of his work would be when the video goes black and white and mirrored horizontally, the sound distortion helped him realize, or show the past or in a sense show some form of negativity that is happening.
Question 2.
His video kinda reminded me of Anri Sala, Ravel Ravel Unravel because of how the narrative progresses until he was able to ride the bike again. According to him, the inspiration for this work was simple, I dropped my bike and it needed some repair, this took me back to when I had a motorcycle accident and how it made put me out of commission for over a year. I chose to use the bicycle to represent this waste of time.
Question 3.
My clips are sequenced pretty much how they were filmed, the changes were all made in editing where I used the curtains and remapping to do a forced time lapse. I also flipped some of the clips and put them in black and white and reused them in the clip as I didn’t have the means to do more shootings. The sounds in both versions are made to make it eerie and the forced time laps with the clicking of the lights and shade adds its own theme. I felt that one of the two videos are more in line and sync while the second ones throws everything off while adding some tension.
Question 4.
I wanted a still shot of the bike in the room and as for the over the shoulder shot I felt it brought the viewer closer to the action, since all most of the video is very still.
Question 5.
Why did you choose this theme/topic?
I chose this topic because as I said I wanted to use a past event that made me realize how times go so slow. I was not able to replicate exactly what I wanted but I wouldn’t be able to do so with the time and materials I had. I chose this bicycle to represent the time passed where the object is watching the days and time go by until it can move again.
