Kris Project 3 Statement

An artistic revolution is heavily inspired by the era that surrounds it. Similarly, a son can be inspired by his father and his upbringing. Nature and nurture both play roles in these scenarios, and my piece explores the juxtaposition of them. It portrays two different art forms that have been historically reciprocal, through the lens of a father and son; Their relationship parallels that of graffiti and hip-hop. While a mischievous tie-dye layers a methodic vinyl manipulation, a father and son’s hands are connected through their creative outlets. The piece narrates an intimate relationship as well as an artistic global phenomenon.
