“The Conclusion”
This piece has a more personal meaning and voice than those before it. Initially, the idea of a conglomerate array of work spurred a series of timelines and storyboard ideas for showcasing the accidental, executed moments throughout the semester. Much of what was shot and utilized to portray an object, sound, or montage was compelling; as each individual was able to bring a unique voice in each subject. As an artist, I wanted to mingle with these moments and compile them, almost as an orchestra operates as one with different moving pieces. In addition, implementing my own taste in creating an alternate moment proved to be of high interest. Being able to paint or create a subject in my own manner was as the message, of self-doubt and internal naggings effecting the creation process, an insight I sought to understand.
The sense of collaboration was lost in accidents with other footage arose. A message of hope in the depression of being unable to create consumed the initial concept. Moments from class were transformed into shots of either contemplation or emotion. Hardly identifiable to the naked eye, such collaborative moments are scattered and foreign within this piece. Simply recreating certain moments felt incomplete and lacking purpose. In accidents such as the zoomed out shots, the loss of direction and esteem were pushed. One could say it’s the conclusion of an artist’s day of struggling to create. The vast majority of shots were to capture the mundane and plug them into what is personal and relatable. Following after exhibit artists and footage, the obvious was left out as much as possible; for the audience to come to their own conclusion in what was conveyed. This piece was in tribute to the times of failure and success in an art piece’s life cycle.
