Built to Burn Statement

This project explores the discovery of self-worth. As my character attempts to beautify herself, she begins to recognize the damaging nature of putting on a mask. Cuts to the slow burning guitar emphasizes her self-destructive tendencies. The concept of being “Built to Burn” means to be created for the sole purpose of destruction, or being born for the sole purpose of dying. But as the video reverses itself, so does the meaning. My character begins to realize her self-worth, and redefine the concept. She begins to acknowledge purpose in her life.
