war in video games
by michaelmurphy1 ~ November 24th, 2010. Filed under: Uncategorized. If anybody knows me I am a person who loves to play devils advocate, that is I bring up many points of view to an arguement only to stir opinions. Lately since black friday and the holidays are looming sales in video games will be booming. In our generation the major push in video games are the “war” type genre. Whether it be first person or third, the role is to survive the trenches in all the world wars and fictional ones. Games are rated mature, however these games are being played by children of all ages. The exposure of war games to children can be criminal.
Sub-Conciously we are entering a world where we can kill people, where we can pick up a gun and end lives. This is sub conscious of course, but as a child does this enter his/her mind to act more aggressive than usual. Video games are progressing towards mimicking our movements, so now we actually point and shoot an enemy. Question is do video games sub concsciously exert our aggresive nature more in reality??
I only pose this question from first hand experience, video games can either get me extremely pissed off and mess my day up or they can calm me down because i just mowed down 300 hundred soldiers in world war 2. Tell me what you think about how the genre of war video games affects our lives.

Michael this is a really cool topic that your brought up that has been argued over and over again but yet neither side will ever win. War games are always a source of stimulus for people that play them. I believe the entire object of the game is to evoke strong emotions such as anger, defeat, hate, and triumph. This is mostly the reason why so many gamers go out and buy these games the day they come out and play them religiously. I do believe that war games can have the ability to create a more aggressive society but that is only if the gamer is not able to consciously control their sub conscious tendencies to be aggressive. I think a lot of this has to do with the maturity level of the person playing the game, hence there are restriction as to who can buy these violent games. I think it is wrong to sell these games to children but it is unfortunate that kids continue to get their hands on violent games. I used to be one of those kids so I can’t blame them. Blame the parents!

I have come across that currently, more and more people are increasingly being attracted to cameras and the issue of photography. However, being a photographer, you must first shell out so much time deciding which model of digicam to buy plus moving from store to store just so you may buy the most affordable camera of the trademark you have decided to pick. But it will not end generally there. You also have to take into account whether you can purchase a digital digital camera extended warranty. Thanks a lot for the good ideas I obtained from your web site.
