In Queens, New York, a man was doing his normal grocery -shopping, buying his fruits and vegetables, and then he went home to cook dinner for his family. As he cut open the peppers, he found little bags of cocaine in them. Outraged, he notified the NYPD who then shut down the store to investigate.
Several shoppers also found plastic bags of cocaine in their peppers. “It’s not what you expect when you cut a pepper. You’re expecting seeds when you cut a pepper open, not cocaine!” said one shopper. “Somebody’s not doing their job. How does that get into our country?” This is a question that everyone would like to know; how come the bags of cocaine found in the peppers were not detected and how did the drugs get into the country?
Just when you think Americans have hit rock bottom with the despicable act of Madoff and the irresponsible behavior of AIG’s $165 million payout (taxpayers’ money) to its incompetent executives, we are confronted with yet another problem- the presence of cocaine in our food. It’s sad that drug dealers would do just about anything to smuggle cocaine into the United States even if it means poisoning our food with controlled substances- cocaine. The ruthlessness of these drug dealers is of concern to a lot of people because if they were able to successfully smuggle bags of cocaine in peppers into the United States, going forward, what or who will stop them from using other food items to smuggle cocaine or heroine into the U.S.A?
Drug trafficking organizations are a persistent and evolving criminal threat and are a significant concern to federal, state, and local law enforcement officials. However, organizations such as INTERPOL and United Nations Office for Drug Control and Crime Prevention are working hard to dismantle the drug trafficking organizations.
The reality is we cannot depend entirely on INTERPOL or UNODC or some Drug Enforcement Agency to protect us from the horrors of drug trafficking; we have to find a way to protect ourselves from this predicament. One of the shoppers from the South Ozone Park store said, “I will start checking things I buy, I don’t want any surprises.” Word to the wise: check your food items; you never know what you may find in them!
What has this world come to when we can’t even enjoy our peppers without finding drugs in them?! Sadly, some people may have not called the police when they found it in their peppers 🙁
First of all, whoever thought of growing cocaine in peppers is GENIUS! except he left the pick-up to an idiot.
Second, if you were to level the situation with the toxic materials found on supermarket shelves from foreign imports like dairy products containing Melanine, I’d see some connection… but Madoff and AIG?!? What’s the connection? Other than that they’re all a “problem”?
Third, so the anecdote that you’re suggesting for illegal drug trafficking is for the individual to “check your food items” at the grocery store? By golly, if we all just checked our fruits and vegetables carefully, we may be able to put an end to illegal drugs FOREVER!
