Exploring New York City is exhilarating and is easy because of the MTA. One of the recent places I discovered was Queens.  I hoped onto the F train and started to look around.   I remember seeing those paintings and ads on the train ride.  I really like the recent artwork by Sophie Blackall.  It showed the different types of people taking the subway. Each person had their own story when they’re taking their rides. It’s interesting to see on the train because it made me look around and notice the small details of people around me.

I got off at Jackson Heights-Roosevelt Avenue and waited for the Q33 bus. Many were waiting on two lines – one towards the airport and one towards their home.  Even the buses were different from Manhattan.   These busses had a luggage section for those traveling towards the airport.  The station was like a mini Port Authority in Manhattan.

As the night approached, I waited for the Q66 towards Flushing. I saw a tall building with blue lights.  The skyscraper I saw from a distance looked somewhat like the Empire State Building.  I remember viewing the city at the Top of the Rock during the sunset and when the lights of the Empire State Building turned on.  I still prefer the night view over the day view. As I took the bus to each stop, I noticed a whole different side of New York City.  I don’t think I would ever discover the entire New York City.

I’ve always wanted to walk around Staten Island, but I’ve never stepped a foot onto the ground.  I always pass by when I’m in the car, but I’ve never explored it. I’ve heard it’s a very suburban area, and that it’s quiet.  I don’t believe it and would like to visit one day.
