In this part, Frankenstein was dead in the stormy weather and he wanted to find out the monster and kill him until the last moment he was alive. Because this monster had killed his brother, friend, lover and father. He hated the monster so much. But he never understand the pain of the monster, which was just like the monster couldn’t understand the rule of the world.

In the book, the monster came to his bed when Frankenstein died. He said:”But it is true that I am a wretch. I have murdered the lovely and the helpless; I have strangled the innocent as they slept and grasped to death his throat who never injured me or any other living thing. I have devoted my creator, the select specimen of all that is worthy of love and admiration among men, to misery; I have pursued him even to that irremediable ruin. There he lies, white and cold in death.
You hate me, but your abhorrence cannot equal that with which I regard myself. I look on the hands which executed the deed; I think on the heart in which the imagination of it was conceived and long for the moment when these hands will meet my eyes, when that imagination will haunt my thoughts no more.”

He was never treated rightly by humans so he also do many things to hurt them. He was like a beast but more dangerous. Because he was built by humane and had strength and liked to live in the mountains and ice fields. He was something that was created by human but could be conquered by human.

There was many conflicts throughout the story between Frankenstein and the monster. First, there existed the conflict between beauty and ugliness. Human couldn’t understand those ones that were unglued than them even if they were just like human in their ways of thinking. Human were afraid of them and wanted to exile them. That seemed to be the easiest way to gain peace in life.

Second, there existed the conflict between love and hate. The monster loved normal people. He was so curious about everything in the world just like a baby even though he had been so afraid of what he was like when he first saw himself in the mirror. He learned the language of human secretly because he tried to make friends with the family in the village. He saved the girl that fell into a river. But he kept receiving unfair treatment by normal people. He was hated by them just because of his ugly body. So he hated human and took revenge on them.

I thought of science while I was seeing the monster. People have build a lot of things using science and also destroyed many things in the world while they were changing the world with science. They created new things through science. While creating the new things. Have they ever stopped and thought for a little while whether those new things would heal the world or destroy it. I think it was hard to consider that much while they were creating like a creator of the world, which was also the same with Frankenstein in the book.

What is destroying the world now? For example, nuclear weapons. But earlier this year, nuclear countries were still rejecting to stop developing nuclear weapons. It just proved how human can’t help themselves and can’t think calmly while they are creating powerful things. This is horrible and pathetic because maybe one day we will die under the hand of the things created by us like Frankenstein did.

This part of the movie shows the scene that Gregor’s families had already gotten used to the life without Gregor. His father was wearing a suit. It indicated that he got his job. His mother was sewing some clothes and his sister was talking or learning something. They used to depend on Gregor for living and they were actually living in the house that Gregor bought them. But They seemed to want to ignore the existence of him. They used to feel sad for Gregor’s transformation. But gradually they began to feel terrified. His family was starting to try to abandon him. Their love for Gregor was replaced and conquered by fear. They even refused to clean the room for Gregor and left him a dirty environment.

But at this moment, Gregor still missed his families a lot. He wanted them to take care of him and he climbed to the wall to listen what his families were saying. At the beginning part of the novel, we can see that he was still trying to consider sending his sister to learn music even though he had lost everything in his life. He clearly knew that he had been gradually forgotten like the rotten apple in the novel. And he was also dying. But all of his life was fighting for his family. He loved his family deeply.

Also, he felt so guilty because he couldn’t provide a good life for his families like he used to do. His sister’s attitude was also changing. She used to care about Gregor but she eventually refused to send food to him. His father was cold-hearted all the time.

This is somewhat like when people get old. They are so weak and lying on the bed. They suddenly have nothing but their families in their lives. They work in their whole life to raise their family. But it is always a truth that they could be easily abandoned by their family. Gradually no one would think that they should treat them like they are still young and energetic as they gradually lose their ability to live normal lives. No matter how much they loved him when he was clear-minded. It is a truth that known by many people. It’s cruel but it is unavoidable. Is our belief a lie? I guess we would never figure out until the day we are treated like Gregor.
