NARRATIVE OF METACOGNITION

In Issac Asimov’s essay, “What is intelligence, Anyway” he presumes about his intelligence by saying that he had always known that his IQ was higher than everyone else’s. He had always obtained high scores in those type of tests throughout his life. Yet, it didn’t have a great meaning to him because it didn’t change anything in his life. Although he had abundant academic intelligence, he lacked of some common sense, which was shown by a joke his mechanic made to him. From my perspective, Intelligence means to be well educated in multiple topics. But it also means to be able to understand different points of views, and know how solve problems. I’m really interested into learning about business and how they work. Some of my strengths are creativity, being initiative and responsible. I enjoy spending time with my loved ones, and working on myself.

According to the intelligence survey my top three types of intelligence are logical/mathematical, visual/spatial, and intrapersonal. The test identifies me as someone who can use numbers effectively, can create effective mental pictures and is able to distinguish among her own feelings in order to make important decisions in life. I think this test has somehow described me well. I like numbers, I remember things best after seeing them, and I always try to rationalize before making any type of choice that could have an impactful outcome in my life. But on the other hand I also enjoy being creative and passionate about what I do, helping other people and learning about life. My strengths and interests are correlated to my types of intelligence because how I think and act is represented by the the things I like and the choices I make.

  1. I definitely agree with your definition of intelligence because I also wrote something very similar but after I thought about it more and definitely did overthink it because I thought that being able to solve problems was more of analyzing rather than intelligence. But I continue to think about it because it really is a controversial word.

  2. I agree that intelligence is to be well versed in multiple areas as well as to be able to apply your knowledge in the right situations.
