Analyzing Psychology.

What is psychology? What is it even about? Does anyone know about this? The straight-forward definition of the term means that it is the study of the mind and behavior; it looks at our thoughts, emotions, and actions in various contexts. Now, why is it so important that I am even taking the time out of my day to analyze such content? Truly, to the bottom of the line, psychology allowed for mental health to be analyzed in order to help people improve mentally. It also helps us better understand the way our mind thinks and feels in a certain way. People talk to each other through verbal words, but you can’t fully understand someone without knowing how they feel mentally. It’s a place where you have to guess and try to communicate through guessing, but with the rise of psychology, it essentially breaks that barrier, allowing people to understand others through their minds easily. Psychology is commonly known to be a social science, as it dates back to a person named Wilhelm Wundt, a German scientist who introduced psychology as a separate science for the first time in the late 1800s. Wundt aimed to comprehend the human condition. He thought that studying human awareness should fall under the purview of science since he wanted to comprehend it. Later on, it became more popular going into the present day, as this idea of allowing people to pursue the idea of self-awareness and self-improvement is a fundamental aspect of being human. In the past, religion and philosophy offered solutions, but today, many of us turn more to science. Psychology is the science of the mind and behavior, and a great deal of the research done by psychologists has practical applications. After all, it is one of the most interesting types of science around and still fairly new.

Move 1

Now, just why psychology? What makes it so interesting? Why do people even go on to study it? There are a lot of different topics about psychology, such as cognitive psychology, clinical psychology, and behaviorism. These are just a few examples of the rest. But every topic is very important to psychology, as each has its own study of how the mind works, or behavior alone, ranging from humans to even animals. Now, what makes this type of science different from the rest? Because the experiments and the results are sometimes wrong, you can’t really trust everything that psychology has to say, but that does not mean that everything about psychology is wrong. Giving examples of the brain and how your brain reacts to certain things. Or how your memory works. Or maybe how your personality is formed. I find it very interesting because Psychology works in such way as observing something but, in this sense, to be true, as an example would be learning why does dog react to food from a sound of bell even though there is no dog food presented near them, in Psychology, this is called a type of conditioning that the dog learned, as when you put a plate of food in front of the dog, that plate of food is known as unconditional stimulus, or better known as (UCS), and when the dog react to that plate of food by drooling, it is called a unconditional response, or better known as (URS), but when you add in the tone of bell sound (neutral stimulus) and paired that up with the plate of food to the dog unconditional response, that bell tone will turn into the new conditional stimulus, as a result, the dog will just start to drool at the sound of the bell tone without the present of food. With the dog reacting to the bell tone, it now has a conditional response, as it just now responds to the sound of the bell, knowing that there is going to be food afterward. This is just one of many examples that make psychology interesting to me, as I am still learning and taking a course on it so far. But I just had to share a fraction of what I found interesting about it.

Move 2

Psychology is not only good at defining what the mind can do but can also differ from behavior easily. Although the mind can affect someone’s behavior in some way, they don’t work on the same levels or impact each other so much to the point where what the mind thinks will directly affect your next behavior. When referring to the mind, the brain is mainly responsible for thinking and how you feel. As located in the frontal lobe of your brain, it is responsible for judgments and thinking, as a way of thinking about your next move. Behavior works in a way where it is controlled by how your mind feels and thinks; therefore, letting your brain control your emotions affects the way behavior is done. Simply put, they work in a way that they need each other to depend on. In a way, they are the same but work differently from each other.

Move 3

The place where psychology stands right now in the science world is not as an official science but only as a social science, as it is a science that is used to understand people who are way more complex than the science itself. What I am trying to say is that humans are just way more complex than you think. Even as a human yourself, it is already hard enough to figure out who you are as a person, and then add that on to try to understand another human being. It is just not possible because of our changing emotions and our unexpected behavior at times. In contrast to other sciences, such as biology, where it is easier to understand animals or plants than humans,

Move 4

Now, would you even trust a science that is not even official and still new? How trustworthy are the results? Even going through just the basic results of psychology, it is safe to say that most of the results are reliable, but is it going to help you predict the future? No. But that is psychology the way it is, an interesting science that I believe would change the world if it went in the right direction, because having a science that is able to research someone’s mind and thoughts is already really impressive. Looking back on the history of psychology, you can tell it really came a long way to the present day, after all the countless experiments and tests just so we could learn to understand others better.

Move 5

Does psychology really know everything? No. It is still very new, and it is still growing as of now. How does personality differ among people? Why is psychology so popular? All questions I can’t answer right now, as I am still learning about them myself, but you should give this type of science a chance to learn.

  1. This is a well-articulated exploration of the field of psychology and its significance. I appreciate your look at the different aspects of psychology and how it seeks to understand the complexities of the human mind and behavior. Your enthusiasm for the subject is evident.

  2. I think what you mentioned din move five is really important when looking at psychology because although it does tell us a lot about the mind and basically how people work, it is important to realize that people are not exactly alike and therefore their minds may work and process differently.

  3. You were very elaborate in explaining the areas and subjects in psychology. I am currently taking a class in general psychology and I have always thought about the topic as interesting but never really noticed just how detailed and complex it can get.

  4. I like how you explained in detail the different aspects of psychology. I’m taking psychology 1001 and we talked a lot about the stuff you mentioned.
